From the Plainsboro Preserve:
Make a right out of driveway onto SCOTTS CORNER RD
At first light, make right onto DEY RD
At first light, make right onto SCUDDERS MILL RD
Drive straight until RT 1 interchange
Take exit for RT 1 south
At first light make a right onto HARRISON ST
Take straight until RT 206 intersection (HARRISON changes to
EWING St towards end)
Make right onto 206 North
At Route 518 make a left onto 518 West (If you pass the Tiger’s
Tale Restaurant on the left on 206 you’ve just past it)
Go straight through 3 lights….you will now be in Hopewell Boro
At 4th light (N. GREENWOOD AVE) make a right (Large DANA banner
on building to the right)
N. GREENWOOD AVE turns into RILEYVILLE RD…remain straight
Pass the restaurant called Hillbilly Hall (Formerly Mignella’s)
Pass the entrance to the Hunterdon Sourland Preserve
At MOUNTAIN AVE make a LEFT (7th left turn since turning off
518) (make sure this is MOUNTAIN AVE…NOT Mountain Church Rd)
Follow MOUNTAIN AVE to the McBurney Woods parking area on the
Left.
We will meet in front of the kiosk in the parking lot.
Brigantine
Directions to the refuge parking lot:
From the North: Garden State Parkway south to Exit 48(US 9
south). Follow south for 6 miles to Great Creek Road in
Oceanville. There will be a small sign for the refuge pointing
to the left. Make this left and follow road in over the bridge,
past an exit on your left, to the left turn into the gate.
From the West: Take Atlantic City Expressway southeast to
Exit 7 (Garden State Parkway North). Drive north on the parkway
for 3 miles to the service area on your left at mile 41. Drive
into the service area and proceed to the far (north) end,
following the obscure signs for Jim Leeds Road. The exit for
this road is a commuter access road between the service area
exit for north bound traffic and the entrance for southbound
traffic. From this short access road, turn right onto Jim Leeds
Rd. Go .04 miles and bear left at the fork onto Great Creek
Road. Continue on Great Creek Road for 3.1 miles to Rt. 9. Cross
over Rt. 9 and proceed to the parking lot as mentioned above.
Colliers Mills
Follow Route 70 to County Route 539 North. Follow County route
537 North for about 8.5 miles to colliers Mills Road. Make a
right onto Colliers Mills Road and go about 0.9 miles to the
entrance of the WMA. Park in the spaces adjacent to the lake.
There are no restrooms on site, so be prepared for that.
Manasquan
Reservoir
From the north or the coast, take the Garden State Parkway to
Exit 98 (I-195.) Go west on I-195 for about 7 miles to Exit 28B
(Rt. 9 North). Turn immediately right at the traffic light onto
Georgia Tavern Road, go 0.3 miles and turn right onto Windeler
Rd.; drive about 1.6 miles to the recreation area entrance, on
the left. This is the location of the main parking area and boat
ramp.
From the west, take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 7
(I-195), follow I-195 east for about 21 miles to Exit 28B and
proceed as described in the preceding paragraph.
Somerset
Sourlands
From the Plainsboro Preserve:
Make a right out of driveway onto SCOTTS CORNER RD
At first light, make right onto DEY RD
At first light, make right onto Scudder’s Mills Rd
Drive straight until RT 1 interchange
Take exit for RT 1 south
At first light make a right onto HARRISON ST
Take straight until RT 206 intersection (Harrison changes to
Ewing St at end)
Make right onto 206 North
Make left onto 601 (this is at the base of the train bridge on
very sharp curve.
Make right onto East Mountain Rd (next to Carrier Clinic)
Entrance to the Sourland Preserve is on the left.
From North:
Take Route 287 South to Route 206 (Exit 17)
Follow Route 206 south for about seven miles to Route 514
Make Right onto Route 514 west for about three miles
then turn Left on East Mountain Road. Be prepared for walking on
rocky trails.
Trenton Marsh
Follow Interstate 195 west to Exit 2 (US 206, South Broad
Street). Follow west (through the White Horse circle, where it
becomes US 206) for 2.3 miles to Sewell Avenue on the left.
(Sewell Avenue is in the 1800 block, one block before the
conspicuous green steeple of Holy Angels Church.) Turn left onto
Sewell and follow it through three stop signs to its end, where
a dirt road bears off to the left and down the hill. Follow the
road and park in the lot at the bottom of the hill.
Princeton Institute Woods
From Route 1
Take the Alexander Road West Exit
Drive .7 miles and take a left on West Road.
West Road is on your left after crossing a bridge over the D&R
Canal.
Drive in and park on the right about .2 miles along the drive.
We will meet there and begin our exploration of the woods.
Whitesbog Bogs,
Bugs, and Botany:
Travel South on Route 206 until the intersection of
Routes 206, 38 and 530. Turn East onto 530 and follow to Mile
Marker 13. Please drive INTO the village and meet at the parking
lot in front of the general store.
Raccoon Ridge,
Hawk Watch
From Interstate 80 Take Exit 1
Follow Old Mine Rd North approximately 6 miles to the Kaiser
Road Trail Head.
Look for the head in paved parking lot adjacent to Old Mine Road
on the left.
We will meet in the parking lot. The Trail head is
directly across Old Mine Road.
