New Jersey
Audubon's professional staff is a resource for natural
history and environmental content and provides the ways
and means for integrating environment-based and
place-based education into
established curricula.
Participate in a
professional development workshop and receive state Department of Education
professional development hours. Our staff conducts
individual workshops throughout the state and will also
tailor a workshop to your district needs and/or in-service
day.
Natural History Guides and
Information
Use NJAS resources
when planning your lessons or units. All lessons
have content that is NJ-specific. All lessons are
correlated to the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards
in Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and
Mathematics.
Bridges to the Natural World
(elementary/middle school) focuses on natural
habitats, fundamentals of ecology, as well as
interactions between human systems and natural
systems.
Fishing for Answers in an Urban Estuary
(middle school) focuses on the Newark Bay Complex;
understanding the essentials of an estuary ecosystem and
how a system changes over time.
NJAS works locally and
statewide on grant-funded programs that bring environmental
education to schools and teachers. See what we are
working on right now; think about how we can support
each other in our educational missions.
