Overview of Activities
Weekly Walks & Activities

CMBO's regularly scheduled program activities, led by CMBO’s stellar associate naturalists and/or professional staff, meet at locations highlighted on the CMBO Birding and Butterflying Map of Cape May County. Bring binoculars, field guides, bug repellent, sunscreen, and drinking water. Dress for prevailing weather and for protection from sun and insects. Note: Programs may be cancelled at leaders’ discretion due to heavy rain or unsafe weather conditions.

Cost: $6 members, $10 nonmembers.  No Pre-registration necessary unless otherwise indicated.
Note: Walk tickets are available at a savings if you purchase ten or more; contact CMBO centers for details.

Boat Trips

Take a break and enjoy a relaxing boat trip with a natural twist!  CMBO offers several bird and nature cruises throughout the year from Cape May and Somers Point areas including sunset tours of the rich islands, marshes, and waterways.  See our Activities Calendar for details and more information.  A limited number of loaner binoculars are available on many of the boat trips.  Cost for most trips are discounted to CMBO or NJ Audubon members. 

Pre-registration is required and space is limited.  Register according to instructions in write-up in the Kestrel Express, our seasonal listing of activities.  

Special Events & Programs

Geared for the beginner to the seasoned naturalist, CMBO's specialty programs and field trips focus on species identification, migration, trips outside of the Cape May area, and more.  Some of these programs require pre-registration and space is limited. See our Activities Calendar or the Kestrel Express, our seasonal listing of activities, for more details and information.  Cost for these trips vary and are discounted to CMBO or NJ Audubon members. 

School of Birding Workshops

Cape May School of Birding Workshops offer fun, attentive, world-class leaders on every workshop; give you a chance to visit one of the truly best birding places on the planet where you’ll meet great, like-minded people for lasting memories...and friendships.  You’ll be a better birder and enjoy a feeling of accomplishment when you are done.  The majority of time is spent in the field, watching, listening, and learning, and if the workshop is encompasses multiple days, there will be at least one indoor session with the possibility of more in case of inclement weather.  Daily plans are adjusted to meet local weather and migration conditions.  Leader to participant ratio is 1:12 or better.  For detailed information, visit the School of Birding section of this website.
