TIDAL MARSH TOUR BY KAYAK (approx. 2 1/2 hours)
Mid-June through Labor Day

Get ready for close encounters with nesting ospreys, herons, egrets and beautiful salt marsh flora and fauna.  Explore the historic and scenic Cape May Harbor and some of Cape May County's most beautiful and unspoiled salt marshes via a kayak.  

There is No Experience Necessary!  These tours are perfect for families looking to gain something meaningful while visiting the shore.  All kayak tours are led by experienced Aqua Trails guides and naturalists.  Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a towel, protective water shoes and appropriate clothing for getting wet/damp.  All tours meet and depart from the nature Center of Cape May.

Cost: Single Kayak $45, Double $75.

SUNSET KAYAK TOURS (approx. 2 1/2 hours)

The sunset kayak is our tidal marsh tour by kayak, with the added bonus of a beautiful sunset over the marshes and harbor. See description above for details and suggestions.

Cost: Single Kayak $45, Double $75.

FULL MOON KAYAKING TOURS (2 to 2 1/2 hours)
June 18th, 19th and 20th -- meets at 7:45 p.m.
July 17th, 18th and 19th -- meets at 7:15pm
August 5th, 6th and 7th: meets at 6:45 p.m.
September 5th and 6th: meets at 6:15 p.m.

The full moon kayak tour has become one of most unique and special offerings, as well as our most popular kayak tour. This is the tidal marsh tour by kayak with the extra attraction of seeing a sunset over the water and the ascent of a full moon while an exceptionally high tide rises. All tours meet and depart from the Nature Center of Cape May.

Cost: Single Kayak $45, Double Kayak $75.

July 23rd; 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
August 13th: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This informative Saturday program is designed to teach adults the basics of sea kayaking. Only sit-inside (sea) kayaks will be used for this program. This class will introduce the paddler to kayak equipment, water conditions, self and aided rescues. The Eskimo Roll will be demonstrated, but not taught. The clinic meets and departs from the Nature Center of Cape May.
Cost: members $50 with own kayak, $75 renting a kayak, nonmembers $60 with own kayak, $85 renting a kayak.

August 3rd (Wed); Meets at 5:00 p.m. at NCCM

This thrilling kayak tour is designed for the more adventurous paddlers. All tours leave from the Nature Center of Cape May. Enjoy the natural vistas of the “The Cove” beach in Cape May while paddling the gentle ocean swells around Cape May Point and into Delaware Bay. Once in the bay, we will paddle north along the Higbee Beach WMA where over one thousand acres of maritime forest still grace the coastline. Skilled Aqua Trails Kayaking guides will ensure a safe and fantastic experience while seeking out dolphins, sea birds and other fantastic marine life. See the historic Cape May lighthouse from a totally new perspective! All equipment, instruction and guide services are provided. We also throw in a snack and bottle of water. Space is limited, so reserve ASAP.

Cost: Single Kayak $50, Double $90.

September 23rd (Sat) and 30th (Sat. fall foliage!).
Tours meet at the NCCM and depart around 8:30am, returning at approximately 2:00pm.

This is a terrific opportunity to experience the serene beauty of one of Belleplain Forest’s beautiful lakes. The placid naturally tea-colored waters invite persons of all ages to enjoy a natural treasure. Be prepared for sightings of eagles, warblers, beavers and rare carnivorous plants! Come and see why the United Nations has included the Pine Barrens of New Jersey as part of the International Biosphere Reserve. All equipment, instruction, guide services, water and snacks are provided by the Aqua Trails staff. Space is limited, so reservations are required. Bring a lunch if snacks aren’t enough.
Cost: Single Kayak $60, Double Kayak $95.


Single and double sit on top kayaks are available for rent daily.   rentals include all equipment, friendly instruction and even a map.  We use Ocean Kayaks or Necky Kayaks and upgraded seats and paddles.  PFDs always included.

SUPs are available for rent every day and are the perfect way to explore the harbor and adjacent marshes.  As always, all equipment and instruction is provided.  This rapidly growing sport is now available here in Cape May.  Perfect for persons of all ages and abilities.  An excellent core exercise, while providing a vista of the water like no other activity.  If flat-water paddling is too tame, take them off-site to approved beaches.

Naturalist-guided stand-up paddleboard tours.  Every day Aqua Trails offers a 70-90 minute tour of Cape May Harbor and the adjacent tidal salt marsh via a stable and efficient paddleboard.  All equipment, instruction and guiding is provided.  Don't worry if you have never tried paddleboarding before.  We will have you up and cruising in minutes.  It is safe and fun for all ages.  This is a terrific way to view the waterway and spot wildlife while strengthening your core muscles and increasing balance.  All tours leave from the Nature Center of Cape May.

Monday Morning Sunrise SUP tour in the Cove

Meet one (or more) of our skilled Aqua Trails guides at the Cove Beach in Cape May every Monday for an inspiring sunrise SUP tour of the ocean.  All equipment and instruction is provided.  At least some SUP experience is required and all participants must be 15 years of age or older.
