Nature Center of Cape May's
Seventh Annual Plant Sale
Order by April 30th, 2007
for pick up from May 12 to 20
|
The Nature Center of Cape May is
celebrating the arrival of spring with its seventh-annual Native Plant Sale.
Orders will be accepted now through April 30.
The Nature Center's plant catalog of 63 species emphasizes
southern New Jersey native flowers, shrubs, and trees, such as Vernal
witchhazel and Cranberry viburnum. Sanctuary Director Gretchen Ferrante
selects plants specifically for traits including drought tolerance, the
ability to survive in the Jersey Cape's tough seaside environmental
conditions, their benefit to wildlife such as butterflies, songbirds, and
hummingbirds, and their ability to beautify your backyard. Several nonnative
(and noninvasive) butterfly-attracting species are offered as well, such as
the showy Butterfly bush, loved by Monarch butterflies.
Many new species have been added to the catalog this year,
including shade garden perennials and more seaside drought-tolerant plants.
Additional new species will be available for purchase during plant pick up.
Special seaside, butterfly, hummingbird, and songbird plant
packages are available at greatly discounted prices. The plant packages
include design plans that can be replicated in your own yard.
The Nature Center's perennials, trees, and shrubs are large
and well developed, allowing you to enjoy their beauty almost immediately.
Perennials are packed in quart-size pots, and trees and shrubs come in one- or
two-gallon containers.
Simply click here
to download and print an order form (in PDF format), fill it out, and send it
to the Nature Center with payment.
Plants may be picked up at the Nature
Center between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. from Saturday, May 12, through Sunday,
May 20, except for Monday, May 14.
