Hovnanian Sanctuary is our largest South Jersey sanctuary at 512 acres and is located at the northern end of the Pinelands Preservation Area. Located west of Toms River, the property offers visitors an opportunity to view the native plants and animals unique to the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Please note we are currently engaged in management activities at this property. These activities are focused on retaining the natural character of the unique Pine Barrens Ecosystem and improving habitat for plant and animal species specifically adapted to this special environment. As a result of our work, trails, particularly along sand roads, may be challenging to follow. We have attempted to maintain trail marks with NJA blazes but always carry a compass and map so that you may safely orient yourself.
