Sunflower Tours

The 2016 season's NJ Audubon S.A.V.E. (Support Agricultural Viability and the Environment) sunflowers are growing on partner farms throughout New Jersey.  The 2016 sunflower viewing locations will be posted here starting in August.

It is important to recognize that the sunflowers are being grown on private farms.  NJ Audubon does not own the fields and these properties are not open to the public without express consent from the landowner and/or farmer.  Please do not trespass and do not attempt to take or damage any vegetation.

The summer 2016 crop of Jersey-Grown sunflower seed will be available for sale beginning approximately November 1 of this year. NJ Audubon S.A.V.E.TM black oil sunflower birdseed is available to purchase at New Jersey Audubon stores at locations across the state and at several other retail locations throughout the state.  To find one near you and learn more about participating farmers please visit us at www.njaudubon.org Profits from the sale of S.A.V.E.TM birdseed benefit New Jersey farmers and directly support NJ Audubon’s conservation mission. Q: Why do we wait so long to announce the dates for the sunflower tours?

A: Sunflowers are in their peak bloom for about one to two weeks.  We schedule tours around this magic (but brief) time.  As the sunflowers get closer to peak bloom, it is easier to predict exactly when that will be. Please check back to this page for the most current information on tours.  It is always a good idea to call the farm before you go to get up-to-date information about the blooms.
