Sue received the Outstanding Environmental
Educator as a non-formal educator who works with schools.
Sue's commitment to environmental education is evident to all
who have worked with her and have been taught by her. In
addition to her work at the Nature Center of Cape May, Sue has
served on municipal environmental commissions, school advisory
boards and ANJEE's Advisory Council. She is an active
participant in ANJEE South's programs.
One nominator, a third grade teacher in
Maurice River Township schools, tells about the wonderful
programs that Sue has developed for and with her students,
including tagging and releasing Monarch butterflies and a
month-long study about raptors (see Raptor Discovery Days).
Another teacher shares how Sue's guidance made it possible to
develop a wetland nature trail behind her school.
Sue's love for environmental education is the
magic that helps her reach and connect with even the most
reluctant learner. She provides students of all ages with
experiences that foster a greater appreciation of our natural
world.
