This quarterly of the New Jersey Audubon Society publishes articles on status, distribution and populations of New Jersey Birds, and compiles in each issue observations on birds from each of five regions, called regional Field Notes. The information is of interest to recreational birders, professionals, consultants, planners and government agency officials, and is useful for conservation of habitat and research projects. New Jersey Birds is only available as a PDF download from this site, not as a printed publication.
Active birders contribute quarterly to the regional editors in each of the five regions. Numbers and dates of common and rare species and endangered species are reported. Deadlines and instructions for submission of articles appear below. For very rare species, a description should be provided. Photos are welcome. (Click here for more information about photo and video submissions.)

Photo and Video Contributions
New Jersey Birds is always interested in receiving photos of birds of interest for possible publication. All photographers of material used receive credit in the magazine, as well as our behind-the-scenes unbridled gratitude.
All photos should go to the appropriate regional editor or to Don Freiday for review and selection. Digital photos are greatly preferred. We prefer to receive both a non-retouched high resolution JPEG and, if desired, another high resolution file retouched by the photographer. We encourage photographers to apply a non-obtrusive watermark to their retouched JPEG. Please name all photos with the subject, date taken and your first initial and last name, for example: “little_gull_feb_7_2008_d_Freiday.jpg”. 150 dpi or greater is preferred, as this will allow reasonable reproduction for those who print a hard copy of the magazine from the web site on their home printer.
