CAPE MAY BIRDING HOTLINE March 23, 2007
You have reached the Cape May Birding Hotline, a service of New
Jersey Audubon Society's Cape May Bird Observatory. This week's
message was prepared on Friday March 23, 2007. Highlights this week
include sightings of REDHEAD, HARLEQUIN DUCK, EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED
TEAL, COMMON GOLDENEYE, RED-NECKED GREBE, ICELAND GULL and PIPING

sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
One hen REDHEAD was present at the Villas WMA on 3/21. As well, the
group of REDHEADS continues on Lake Lily.
HARLEQUIN DUCKS continue to be seen at the Cold Spring jetty as of 3/18.
A drake EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was found in the Coast Guard ponds
on Ocean Dr. on 3/21.
Three COMMON GOLDENEYE were seen from East Point in Cumberland County
One RED-NECKED GREBE was seen from Cape May Point on 3/20. Another
report of this species was from Ventnor on 3/19.
As of 3/21 the 1st year ICELAND GULL continues to be seen on the Cold
Lastly, one PIPING PLOVER was seen at Two Mile Beach on 3/21. Also,
one PIPING PLOVER has been reported to have returned to Stone Harbor
Point as of 3/20.
The Cape May Pelagic has been rescheduled for Sunday March 25. For

Drive in Cape May Point, winter hours are Thursday-Monday 9:00-4:30.
The Center for Research and Education on Rt. 47 in Goshen is open
Tuesday- Sunday 9:00- 4:30.
