Cape May Rare Bird Alert - 4/12/2001
You have reached the Cape May Birding Hotline, a service of New Jersey Audubon Society's Cape May Bird Observatory. Highlights for the week ending April 12 include: DICKCISSEL, EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL, other bird news, and news of CMBO.

A DICKCISSEL was re-found at the Madison Avenue park in Cape May on April 7.

A EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was at the Bivalve impoundment on April 7.

There have been no reports of the CINNAMON TEAL this week.

Other highlights this week included: BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER at the Beanery on April 7, PRAIRIE WARBLER at the Beanery on the 7th, GREEN HERON at the South Cape May Meadows (SCMM) on the 9th, WHIMBREL over Higbee Beach on the 9th, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER in Goshen on the 10th, YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON at Stone Harbor on the 10th, two AMERICAN BITTERNS at the SCMM on the 10th, and two OVENBIRDS at Belleplain SF on the 12th.

CLIFF SWALLOWS, TREE SWALLOWS, BARN SWALLOWS and ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS, along with CHIMNEY SWIFT, were all at the SCMM on the 7th. WHIP-POOR-WILLS were heard calling this week in Eldora and at Turkey Point.
