Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 1/11/1995
This is the voice of NJ Audubon for Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1995 at noon with reports of BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, SNOWY OWL, HARLEQUIN, RAZORBILL, COMMON EIDER, EURASIAN WIGEON, REDHEAD, BLACK-HEADED GULL, LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, GLAUCOUS GULL, ICELAND GULL, SHORT-EARED OWL, BALD EAGLE, and seasonal reports.

At Sandy Hook, the BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was not seen Jan. 7 but it was found on Jan. 8. Also at Sandy Hook, the HARLEQUIN continues at the Auditorium, 12 REDHEADS were in the Scaup flock at Spermaceti Cove Jan. 8, and an ICELAND GULL was on the beach Jan. 7.

SNOWY OWLS continue at Holgate as of Jan. 8, also one was at Kearny on Belleville Pike, on a landfill, on Jan. 4. Two RAZORBILLS were at Manasquan Inlet Jan. 7. KITTIWAKES were there on Jan. 8. A COMMON BLACK-HEADED GULL was on Ocean Drive, Wildwood Crest, in the Coast Guard Pond on Jan. 7.

HARLEQUIN, ICELAND GULL, and COMMON EIDER were in Barnegat Inlet Jan. 8. An ICELAND GULL was at Shark River Jan. 7 -8; EURASIAN WIGEONS were at Silver Lake, Belmar, on the island, and at Lake Takanassee, both Jan. 8.

Gulls on the Delaware Jan. 7-8 were as follows: on Jan. 7, 2 LESSER BLACK-BACKS at Pennsbury Manor, PA; 7 LESSER BLACK-BACKS seen from Florence, NJ, on the river banks, and one ICELAND GULL, also from Florence; and a LESSER BLACK-BACK at Bordentown Beach. On Jan. 8, there was 1 LESSER BLACK-BACK from the Scenic Overlook on Rt. 295 at Bordentown, another at Bordentown Beach, and a GLAUCOUS GULL on the main pond in Trenton Marsh.

In Great Swamp, Jan. 6 to 8, on Pleasant Plains Rd., there were ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, SHORT-EARED OWL, N. HARRIER, and AM. WOODCOCK. BALD EAGLES were at Oradell, Whitesbog, Oak Ridge Reservoir on Rt. 23. SHORT-EARED OWLS are in numbers at Manahawkin. The NORTHERN ORIOLE continues at the feeder in Huber Woods. WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS are in Thompson Park in Manalapan on Rt. 520. ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS are in the Hackensack Meadowlands. Liberty State Park in Jersey City had RUDDY DUCK, CANVASBACK, GOLDENEYE, GREATER SCAUP and GREEN-WINGED TEAL Jan. 7. Round Valley Reservoir Boat Launch area on Jan. 7 had WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, BUFFLEHEAD, RUDDY DUCK, COMMON LOON, LESSER SCAUP and AM. COOT. [tape inaudible beyond this point --LL]
