This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Wed Oct 25 with reports of Review List ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD, LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, WESTERN TANAGER, LE CONTE'S SPARROW, BARROW'S GOLDENEYE and other reports of GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, LARK SPARROW, other sparrows, N. Shrike, seasonal reports and local reports of interest.

An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was seen Oct 22 at Higbee in the tower field and field 1. A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE flew over Cape May Oct 20 with Canadas. The LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE continued this week at Bay Point Road, Cumberland County. A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen in Bridgewater (Somerset Co.) at a feeder briefly over the weekend.

A male WESTERN TANAGER was seen Oct 25 at Sandy Hook from the South Pond platform north of E area. A LARK SPARROW was seen from the platform Oct 21. Park behind the Ranger Station in the median and take the path into the dune trail; go left to the platform. A LE CONTE'S SPARROW was seen and photographed by several observers Oct 22 on the north side of Gunnison Road across from the marine labs and the weather station. Also at the Hook Oct 22 were 2 AM. GOLDEN PLOVER at Spermaceti, VESPER SPARROW at J lot and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER.

A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was reported from Gibbsboro (Gloucester Co.) Oct 22, presumably on the Delaware River (no details). A juvenile LARK SPARROW was at Brig on the North Dike (east pool) about 100 yards from the NE corner.

A N. SHRIKE and a SNOW BUNTING were at Raccoon Ridge Oct 22. RED-THROATED LOON and BONAPARTE'S GULLS were at Merrill Creek Res Oct 23, along with a BALD EAGLE. BALD EAGLES were also at Lake Hopatcong, at Warren Green Acres, and over Mehrhof Pond in Little Ferry this week. At the Long Pond Iron Works, on Beach Road in W. Milford, there were several VESPER SPARROWS feeding in the grass.

At Cold Brook Preserve on 517 in Oldwick, there were 5-6 VESPER SPARROWS daily Oct 20-23, and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW Oct 20, GOLDEN EAGLE Oct 22, DICKCISSEL Oct 23; and in nearby Tewksbury, PINE SISKIN and PURPLE FINCH this week.
