This is the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1992, with reports of GOLDEN EAGLE, RAVEN, sparrow field reports, and local reports of interest. GOLDEN EAGLES were reported this week from Brigantine (Forsythe) NWR Oct. 26, and another the same day at the Garden State Parkway mile marker 54. Two others were reported from Chimney Rock Oct. 25-26; two were seen at Raccoon Ridge Oct. 27, along with with a black ROUGH-LEG and ten HARRIERS as well as a few SNOW BUNTINGS. RAVENS were also seen Oct. 26 from Raccoon Ridge. At the sparrow fields at Denville on Bush Rd., the following were reported Oct. 24: HENSLOWS, FOX, VESPER, WHITE-CROWNED, and for 3 weeks an imm. CLAY-COLORED SPARROW. At Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park this week there were ten species of sparrows including VESPER, WHITE-CROWNED, GRASSHOPPER, and probable LECONTE'S. Also there, PIPITS, SNOW BUNTINGS, and one day a LAPLAND LONGSPUR. Exit Rt. 46 at Challenger Blvd., follow the signs to the theatres, left at the theatres to the end of the road and park. A PINE SISKIN was at Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary at the feeder on Tuesday, Oct. 27. WINTER WREN, BLUEBIRD, HERMIT THRUSH, and PIPIT were reported in numbers this week. For those going to Raccoon Ridge, a PILEATED WOODPECKER is active along the road on the way up, and otters were visible in Yard's Creek Reservoir on Oct. 27.
