GOLDEN EAGLES and NORTHERN GOSHAWK were tallied among many other raptors at Raccoon Ridge Hawk Watch this week.
A SNOWY OWL was found in Bayonne, seen from the public walkway near the golf club; also in the area were 2 EURASIAN WIGEONS, and 4 RED-NECKED GREBES.
A MARBLED GODWIT was detected from the Saw Mill Creek Trail in the NJ Meadowlands Nov 10.
Two SANDHILL CRANES have returned to the Randolph Rd fields in Franklin Twp, Somerset County.
Sandy Hook sightings this week were of COMMON EIDER, RED-NECKED GREBE, a late PIPING PLOVER, NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, LONG-EARED OWL, TENNESSEE WARBLER, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, and 30 SNOW BUNTINGS.
Ocean County reports included EURASIAN WIGEON at the Bayshore impoundments in Barnegat Twp, 5 MARBLED GODWITS at Island Beach State Park and single AMERICAN BITTERNS at Island Beach and Tuckerton.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was detected at Whitesbog along the Ocean/Burlington County Line Nov 10-11. Also there were 18 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS.
Franklin Parker Preserve near Chatsworth hosted 6 PIED-BILLED GREBES, 6 WINTER WRENS, SNOW BUNTING, 2 PALM WARBLERS, 3 FOX SPARROWS, 13 PURPLE FINCHES, and 16 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS Nov 8-9.
A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was found at the National Park Dredge Spoils this week.
A ROSS'S GOOSE was noted at Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR Nov 13 along the north dike.
Two SANDHILL CRANES were noted at Sunset Rd, Mannington Marsh Nov 9 and a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was there Nov 13.
