This is Scott Barnes with the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for Friday, November 21, 2014 with reports of CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD, LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, ROSS'S GOOSE, HUDSONIAN GODWIT, NORTHERN SHRIKE, CAVE SWALLOW, EVENING GROSBEAK, seasonal and local reports of interest.

A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD has been seen in Hunterdon County through Nov 20. Address is 43 Church Road, Milford NJ. Birders are welcome, but MUST park on nearby Faber Street. The bird is frequenting the feeder in the front yard.

Also in Hunterdon County was a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE at Cushetunk Lake in Whitehouse Station.

The LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE continues at the Corbin City Unit of McNamara WMA in Atlantic County through Nov 18. Look for the bird along the impoundment road near the observation deck. Also in the county at Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR this week were 120 TUNDRA SWANS, ROSS'S GOOSE, AMERICAN BITTERN, 2 GOLDEN EAGLES, 8 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, and 2 SNOW BUNTINGS Nov 15.

The Owens Station Rd section of Wallkill River NWR had VIRGINIA RAIL, BARN OWL, and SHORT-EARED OWL Nov 18.

Raccoon Ridge Hawk Watch had several Golden Eagles and a juvenile NORTHERN GOSHAWK this week.

Two EURASIAN WIGEONS, RED-NECKED GREBE, and SALTMARSH SPARROW were found at Ocean Terminal in Bayonne this week.

The Rutgers Newark Campus had PHILADELPHIA VIREO, TENNESSEE WARBLER, and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH Nov 14: all very late dates for these neotropic migrant species.

Troy Meadows hosted a VESPER SPARROW Nov 15. Very rare in Morris County was a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER at Tilcon Lake in Olive Twp Nov 15; also there that day was a late SPOTTED SANDPIPER.

Four SANDHILL CRANES have returned for another winter around the Randolph Rd fields in Franklin Twp, Somerset County this week.

An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was found at Raritan Bay Waterfront Park in South Amboy Nov 15. Another ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was found at Rutkowski Park in Bayonne Nov 20.

Sandy Hook had an immature male COMMON EIDER, RED-NECKED GREBE, VIRGINIA RAIL, and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLEr this week. Accidentally omitted from last week's report was a female EVENING GROSBEAK at the hook.

A MARBLED GODWIT was found on the beach in nearby Sea Bright Nov 15.

Ocean County sightings this week were of a NORTHERN SHRIKE at Whitesbog through Nov 17 and a belated report of 2 CAVE SWALLOWS at Holgate Nov 12.

Palmyra Cove Nature Park had a late PECTORAL SANDPIPER and 21 FOX SPARROWS this week; at nearby Taylor's Refuge 7 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were noted.

The HUDSONIAN GODWIT at the National Park Dredge Spoils was last seen Nov 16.

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was found at Sunset Rd in Mannington Marsh Nov 13.
