This is Scott Barnes with the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for Thursday November 6, 2014 with reports of LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, HUDSONIAN GODWIT, SNOWY OWL, seasonal and local reports of interest.

The LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE continues at the Corbin City unit of McNamara WMA in Atlantic County. The bird is often in the isolated stand of trees southeast of the observation deck along the dike road. Also there was a MARBLED GODWIT. A EURASIAN WIGEON and 2 REDHEADS were noted at Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR.

A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK passed Sunrise Mountain Oct 30 and 2 NORTHERN GOSHAWKS were noted there Nov 4.

Raccoon Ridge Hawk Watch recorded 24 GOLDEN EAGLES this week, along with NORTHERN GOSHAWK and 10 SNOW BUNTINGS. For details about birding this site visit the NJ Audubon eBird portal http://ebird.org/content/nj/news/fall-hawkwatching-at-raccoon-ridge/

A VESPER SPARROW was noted at Ocean Terminal in Bayonne.

A LARK SPARROW has been present most of the week at the DeKorte Environment Center in Lyndhurst; also there was a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.

Glenhurst Meadows hosted 21 AMERICAN PIPITS, VESPER SPARROW, and 3 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS this week. More information about birding Glenhurst Meadows can be found on the NJ Audubon eBird Portal at: http://ebird.org/content/nj/news/birding-glenhurst-meadows-warren-somerset-county-by-jonathan-klizas/

Chimney Rock Hawk Watch had 3 GOLDEN EAGLES Nov 2 & Nov 4; and a NORTHERN GOSHAWK Nov 3.

Sandy Hook had a late PIPING PLOVER, 15 SNOW BUNTINGS, 3 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS, DICKCISSEL, and RUSTY BLACKBIRD this week.

A SNOWY OWL was seen in Barnegat Light on the oceanfront Nov 4. Four MARBLED GODWITS were seen at Island Beach State Park this week.

A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was found at the National Park Dredge Spoils Nov 5. Also in Gloucester County were 2 REDHEADS, WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, and LONG-TAILED DUCK at the Red Bank Scenic Overlook in Gloucester County.
