Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 12/1/1993
This is the voice of NJ Audubon update for Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993 at 11AM with reports of REDPOLL, LITTLE GULL, EAGLES, EIDERS, HARLEQUINS, RAVEN, COMMON MURRE, WHITE PELICANS, WESTERN KINGBIRD, RED-NECKED GREBES, SHORT-EARED OWL, and local reports; and updates on some birds reported on Saturday afternoon's tape. The VARIED THRUSH at Manasquan and the BEWICK'S WREN reported at Sandy Hook Nov. 26 were not reported again to the tape. A LARK SPARROW was also at Sandy Hook at the entrance to parking lot G on Nov. 25. REDPOLLS in flocks varying from 3 or 4 up to 120 have been present at Yard's Creek Power station, on the birches around both the lower and upper parking lots, most recently on Nov. 29. Also at Yard's Creek, all 8 NJ woodpeckers, 2 lingering Phoebes at the power station, and 35 Common Goldeneyes on the reservoir, all Nov. 29. An adult LITTLE GULL was at Manasquan Inlet at 4 PM Nov. 29. Both BALD and GOLDEN EAGLES were at Brig this week. Three HARLEQUINS, four COMMON EIDER, and one female KING-EIDER were at Barnegat Inlet this week. A RAVEN was at High Point Nov. 29. EVENING GROSBEAKS continue to be reported at Morganville, Monmouth co. A COMMON MURRE was off one of the jetties at Cape May Point Nov. 25. An AM. WHITE PELICAN was at Cape May Point Nov. 25. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was at the boat launch parking lot at Lake Assunpink on Nov. 27. A SHORT-EARED OWL was at Stony Brook Millstone Watershed this week. A RED-NECKED GREBE was at Lake Como with a pair of REDHEADS Nov. 29. The Com. Sheldrake [presumed escape] continues on Wreck Pond; EURASIAN WIGEONS continue at Marconi Rd., Shark River Inlet, and at Franklin Lake, Eatontown. Two RED-NECKED GREBES were at Round Valley Nov. 26, and a BALD EAGLE was there Nov. 27. Three REDHEADS were on Lake Parsippany Nov. 26-27.
