This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Wed Dec 15 with reports of Review
List PACIFIC LOON, and other reports of N. SHRIKE, WINTER GULLS,
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, HARLEQUIN, SHORT-EARS, ROUGH-LEGS, COM.
REDPOLL, BALTIMORE ORIOLE, and seasonal and local reports.
The week was characterized by the usual paucity of reports in the
annual pre-Christmas Count clam-up period. A PACIFIC LOON was
reported at Sandy Hook off the Visitor Center Dec 10. Also at the
Hook this week were the YELLOWTHROAT on Plum Island, lots of SNOW
BUNTINGS, A DOZEN HORNED LARK, AN ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER at North
Pond on the 12th, and a scattering of RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS and
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was at the Pole Farm (Mercer County Park West) Dec
12; it was in the thickets near the intersection of the two main
Barnegat Light this week had 13 HARLEQUINS, 250 SNOW BUNTINGS, and a
few HORNED LARK.
Manahawkin this week has had up to 8 SHORT-EARS, at least two
ROUGH-LEGS, and up to 10 E. MEADOWLARKS. Mott's Landing north of Brig
has also been getting up to 5 SHORT-EARS.
GLAUCOUS and LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were reported this week at
Florence. LESSER BLACK-BACKS were also at Johnson Park opposite New
Round Valley this week had two BALD EAGLE, two BALTIMORE ORIOLES,
COMMON REDPOLL and RUDDY DUCK.
