Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 12/28/1995
This is the voice of NJ Audubon for Thursday, Dec. 28, 1995,with reports of BALD and GOLDEN EAGLES, GOSHAWKS, NORTHERN SHRIKE, COMMON REDPOLLS, LAPLAND LONGSPUR, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, EVENING GROSBEAK, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD and PEREGRINE FALCON.

At the Great Swamp, Pleasant Plains Rd., a dark-phase ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and an immature GOLDEN EAGLE put on a show. On December 23, an adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK reported on the east side of Long Hill Road. The Great Swamp NORTHERN SHRIKE has been hit or miss this week.

Clyde Potts reservoir in Mendham hosted a BALD EAGLE on December 25.

Sandy Hook on December 24 and 25 had SNOW BUNTINGS and several HORNED LARKS. Also on December 24 at the Navesink River Bridge, GREATER SCAUP, CANVASBACK and RUDDY DUCKS.

Liberty State Park on December 25 had PEREGRINE FALCON, NORTHERN HARRIER, 15 SNOW BUNTINGS, CANVASBACK, GREATER SCAUP, LESSER SCAUP, RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, GADWALL, BUFFLEHEAD, EARED GREBES, 1 CORMORANT, RUDDY DUCKS, 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS and 1 GREAT BLUE HERON.

Rte. 517 in Allamuchy on December 26 had 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR, several HORNED LARKS. Also on the 26th in Chester on Springdale Rd were 20 EVENING GROSBEAKS and 10 COMMON REDPOLLS. Manasquan Reservoir hosted an immature BALD EAGLE on December 28.

A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was reported on Pleasant Hill Rd. in Far Hills. A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was reported at the Pingry School and a NORTHERN SHRIKE at Lyons. A PEREGRINE FALCON was reported in Edison.

BLACK VULTURE were reported in Clinton over Route 31 and at the Bernardville roost. The Bernardsville roost is mostly across the street from Ludlow Heat and Air in Claremont Rd this year.
