Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 12/7/1993
This is the voice of NJ Audubon update for Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1993 at 6PM with reports of SANDHILL CRANE, PACIFIC LOON, RAZORBILL, RED-NECKED GREBE, KING EIDERS, HARLEQUINS, REDPOLLS, AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, GLAUCOUS GULL, REDHEAD, RAVEN, and local reports. A SANDHILL CRANE was found Dec. 3 in Medford on Troth Rd. off Rt. 70 on a horse farm and was seen daily through Monday, Dec. 6. It was not found at 7:30 AM today, Dec. 7; but may still be in the area. The bird is near the intersection of Troth Rd. and Rt. 70 in Medford on the south side of Rt. 70; Troth Rd. is about 3 miles west of the 70/541 circle and about 2.5 miles east of the 70/73 traffic circle. Birds found at Manasquan Inlet Dec. 5 at various times included PACIFIC LOON, 2 RAZORBILLS, RED-NECKED GREBE, and GLAUCOUS GULL. RED-NECKED GREBE was also on Lake Como during the week on several days along with REDHEADS. KING EIDER and HARLEQUIN were at Barnegat Inlet Dec. 4. At Yard's Creek on Dec. 2, about 60 COMMON REDPOLLS were in the birches around the lower parking area, and 2 RAVENS were seen in the same location that afternoon. On Dec. 5, two dozen EVENING GROSBEAKS were at Huber Woods in Monmouth County. The AM. WHITE PELICANS on Ocean Drive in Cape May were also seen again over the weekend. SNOW BUNTINGS and HORNED LARKS were at the Spruce Run boat launch Dec. 2. GANNETS were far into Raritan Bay at Keansburg on Dec. 5 during the northeaster.
