reports of COMMON MURRE, TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE, THAYER'S GULL,
BARROW'S GOLDENEYE; and reports of other species including
ICELAND, GLAUCOUS and BLACK-HEADED GULLS, RAZORBILL, DOVEKIE,
EURASIAN WIGEON, REDHEAD, HARLEQUIN, BALD EAGLES, MARBLED GODWIT,
LOCAL REPORTS and pelagic trips, as well as an escaped LANNER
The TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE at Heislerville continues on East Point
Road 1.2 miles beyond Main St. At Sandy Hook, a sick COMMON MURRE
was photographed on the beach Feb 4. Also at the Hook, a bird
thought to be a first winter THAYER'S GULL was seen and
photographed Feb 4 and 6 at "I" Lot near the new building. The bird
was seen with ICELANDS. The BARROW'S GOLDENEYE continues at
Horseshoe Cove as of Feb 6-7.
Elsewhere on the shore, a GLAUCOUS GULL was at Oceanic Bridge Feb
6; ICELAND, GLAUCOUS and BLACK-HEADED GULLS were seen at
Manasquan Inlet Feb 4 and a DOVEKIE was observed for 30 seconds
there; two REDHEADS and a EURASIAN WIGEON were at Marconi Road,
Shark River; and 23 HARLEQUINS were at Barnegat Jetty Feb 7. Two
MARBLED GODWITS were at Nummy Island this week.
Bogan's "Atlantis" is running whale watch trips from Brielle
Saturdays-Sundays at 9 a.m.; call 908-528-6620 for info. On Feb 6,
FIN WHALES, KITTIWAKES and RAZORBILLS were seen.
A pelagic on the Miss Chris goes from Cape May Feb 21, 5 a.m. to 5

Ten BALD EAGLES were on the Delaware River from the Gap to Poxono
Island Feb 6; other eagles this week were on the following
reservoirs: Yards Creek, Oradell, Oak Ridge, Wanaque, and Merrill
A LANNER Falcon has escaped from a falconer in the area of the
Hackensack Meadowlands. Raptor rehabber Chris Brown called for help
in locating it. It is a female and was wearing jesses and a
telemetry antenna when last seen. It is about Peregrine size.
