This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Tue Feb 13 with reports of
HARLEQUINS, ROUGH-LEGS, N. SHRIKE, SNOWY OWL, local winter reports and
HARLEQUINS continue at Barnegat Inlet, and the SNOWY OWL at Holgate.
TUNDRA SWANS are at Stafford Forge WMA off 539.
No info was received this week on the cranes, the BARROW'S GOLDENEYE or
the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, but they are presumed to be still
The SNOWY OWLScontinue at Liberty State Park, on the greens or behind
the fence in the area north of the interpretive center. Also at Liberty
is a very large flock of RUDDY DUCKS on the waterfront.
The N. SHRIKE was seen Feb 8 thru 10 on Montana Road near Merrill Creek
at the pullout near its intersection with Richline Road. No reports from
ROUGH-LEGS, enjoying a banner year here, were as follows: Motts Creek;
Manahawkin WMA(2); AT&T Pole Farm; Rte 614 in Hunterdon; Troy
Meadows(2); Raritan Center; Pleasant Plains Road in Great SWamp(2);
Wallkill NWR; Lyndhurst(2); and Kearny(2).
Reported moving this week were various raptors, TURKEY VULTURE, COMMON MERGANSER
and HOODED MERGANSER, COM. GOLDENEYE, N. PINTAILS, BLACK DUCK, KILLDEER,
COMMON GRACKLE and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS.
