Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 2/20/1997
This is the voice of NJ Audubon for Wednesday Feb. 19, 1997, at 3:30 pm, with reports of BALD EAGLE, PEREGRINE FALCON, HARLEQUIN, EURASIAN WIGEON, GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE, THICK-BILLED MURRE, a pelagic report, seasonal and local reports.

BALD EAGLES continue to be seen on a regular basis at Wanaque Reservoir.

On Sunday, Feb. 15, a Pelagic trip on Miss Chris out of Cape May observed a COMMON MURRE, ATLANTIC PUFFINS, DOVEKIE, RAZORBILLS, 255 N. GANNET, & 2 N. FULMAR.

Two hundred TUNDRA SWANS were reported at Whitesbog on Feb. 16.

On Feb. 16-17, in Salem County, COMMON MERGANSERS, N. PINTAILS, & TUNDRA SWANS were seen in good numbers.

On Monday Feb. 17 there was a EURASIAN WIGEON on the Navesink River at Clay Pit Creek. There were also Scaup, Canvasback, and Redhead.

On. Feb. 16 and 17, 5 THICK-BILLED MURRES were reported from the penthouse of the Island Beach Motor Lodge just north of Island Beach State Park.

On Feg. 15, in Barnegat Inlet, there were 18 HARLEQUINS, an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, HORNED LARKS, SNOW BUNTINGS, PEREGRINE FALCONS, both LOONS and 2500 to 3000 OLDSQUAWS.

A female COMMON EIDER was seen at Shark River Inlet Feb. 15.

The 2 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and 4 REDHEADS were still at Lake Assunpink on Feb. 18.

The gull concentration at Florence on the Delaware R. continues; on Feb. 15 there were multiple ICELAND, LESSER BLACK-BACKED, & GLAUCOUS GULLS. No reports of the previous MEW GULL were received.
