New Jersey's first NEOTROPIC CORMORANT (pending acceptance by the NJ Bird Records Committee) continued this week at DeMott Pond in Clinton, Hunterdon County NJ. This is along West Main Street just northwest of the Holiday Inn. The bird roosts on the pond's island, often in the dawn redwood tree; it continued there at least ,through Apr 13.
Also in Hunterdon County this week at Spruce Run Reservoir were WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, up to 8 RED-NECKED GREBES, and 3 LITTLE GULLS Apr 14.
A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was found at Colonial Park in Franklin Twp, Somerset County Apr 14-16; seen in the Norway Spruces adjacent to the Rose Garden parking lot. In nearby Hillsborough Twp a SANDHILL CRANE was photographed Apr 11.
At Glenhurst Meadows, 4 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS, 25 PALM WARBLERS, and a VESPER SPARROW were noted Apr 13.
North Shore reports this week included a very early immature COMMON TERN at Wreck Pond, 2 RED-NECKED GREBES at Belmar Marina, and 3 ICELAND GULLS on the beach in Belmar, all Apr 11.
Two SNOWY OWLS were observed at the Holgate Unit of Forsythe NWR Apr 12 and another SNOWY OWL was found in Brant Beach on LBI the same day.
Garret Mountain had a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER Apr 11.
A molting EURASIAN WIGEON was detected at the Mercer Corporate Park Apr 14.
