This is the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for May 29 with reports of Review List WHITE-FACED IBIS, CURLEW SANDPIPER, and other reports of RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, MOURNING WARBLER, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, probable breeding YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS, seasonal reports and local reports of interest.

The adult WHITE-FACED IBIS at Brig was in the NW corner, West Pool May 26; also in the NW corner this week, a female RED-NECKED PHALAROPE. The CURLEW SANDPIPER at Thompson's Beach was not seen Monday May 28. The WHITE-FACED IBISES at Reed's Beach and Bivalve were seen again this week.

Two different pairs of probably breeding SAPSUCKERS were seen on Sawmill Road May 26 through Stokes SF and HIgh Point SP several miles apart, one of those at the Catswamp hemlock grove. In both instances, the birds were noisy and did their distinctive tapping. Also on Sawmill Road May 26 were MOURNING WARBLER and OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER.

OLIVE-SIDED and YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS were at Garret Mt May 24, with 17 WARBLER species. MOURNING WARBLER was at Scherman Hoffman May 26 near the building in the brambles below, along with WILSON'S WARBLER, and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW was under the hedge at the feeder May 26 also, viewed from inside the store.

Sandy Hook May 26 yielded 11 WARBLERS, GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH and YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER in the Brookdale area, YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON in the salt marsh at the little bridge across the road from the campground, and LEAST BITTERN at North Pond.

CLIFF SWALLOWS are breeding on the tower outlet at Merrill Creek Reservoir along with BARN SWALLOWS and ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS. YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was among other WARBLERS at Mercer Co. Park, West Windsor May 26 near the lake. Two SNOWY EGRETS were in Great Swamp May 24, unusual there. GREAT BLUE HERONS appear to be nesting on the island in Boonton Reservoir.
