This is Scott Barnes with the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for Thursday June 21, 2012 with reports of WHITE-FACED IBIS, WILSON'S STORM-PETREL, WILSON'S PHALAROPE, DICKCISSEL, seasonal and local reports of interest.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS continues this week at Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR through Jun 18. A possible WHITE IBIS was reported from the refuge Jun 18. Also there this week was a DICKCISSEL near the start of Jen's Trail Jun 17.

Sandy Hook had an excellent count of 300 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS off the end of the fisherman's trail Jun 19. Birds noted Jun 17 included "unseasonal" breeding-plumaged LONG-TAILED DUCK and HORNED GREBE; a WILSON'S PHALAROPE at the salt flat to the right of the end of the fisherman's trail, and LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL at the false hook. Two LEAST BITTERNS were noted this week at north pond.


The Negri-Nepote Grasslands in Franklin Twp, Somerset County continue to host 2-3 DICKCISSELS, mostly found near Hannah Pond. Also noted there were VESPER SPARROW, 4 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS, and BLUE GROSBEAK. A WILSON'S STORM-PETREL was noted at Liberty State Park Jun 20.

Lord Stirling Park continues to host a pair of PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS this week. Also there were 5+ BARRED OWLS.

An ALDER FLYCATCHER was noted at Glenhurst Meadows in Warren this week.

Old Mine Road/Delaware Water Gap birds noted Jun 14 were ALDER FLYCATCHER and 13 species of warblers including 6 CERULEAN WARBLERS, 20 HOODED WARBLERS, and 12 NORTHERN PARULAS.
