This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Wed June 28 with reports of
AVOCET, BROWN PELICAN, raven, various breeding birds and local
reports of interest.
An AVOCET was at the corner of Bayview Ave and Potter Creek in
Berkeley Twp., Ocean County June 22.
On June 23 at Point Pleasant Beach, off New Jersey Ave, there were 3
BROWN PELICANS. Others were reported during the week at Barnegat
On Clinton road in the Pequannock Watershed June 24, two RAVENS were
south of P4; 2 CREEPERS were at P4; other birds on the road included
singing WINTER WREN, singing YELLOW-RUMP, and all 3 resident VIREOS.
On nearby paradise Road, north of the powerline cut, there was a
singing MAGNOLIA WARBLER.
The BOBOLINKS are still active at Hoffman Park in Pattenberg,
Hunterdon County, along with GRASSHOPPER SPARROW. Exit 78 at
pattenberg-West Portal, go left on the access road, and bear right on
Baptist Church Road to Hoffman Park on the left.
The same birds are active at Brightview Farm in Chesterfield,
Burlington County. From the intersection of 537 and 545, go north on
545 a short distance to Brightview on the right. Be sure to thank the
owner, Christine Connolly, in the logbook for delaying the mowing, at
considerable cost to herself, to protect the birds' nests.
