Presumably the same juvenile BROWN BOOBY found earlier this month off Long Branch reappeared on the beach in the town of Manasquan Jul 19. Two days later (Jul 21) a Brown Booby was seen on the jetty at Barnegat Inlet from the state park?whether or not this is the same individual or a different bird is unclear. An AUDUBON?S SHEARWATER was reported flying past the jetty heading north Jul 23.
Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR had 2 REEVES (female Ruffs) Jul 21-22, seen in both the northwest and southwest pools. Other highlights there this week were 20 species of shorebirds including an AMERICAN AVOCET Jul 19, AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER Jul 21, four PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 20 RED KNOTS and 70 STILT SANDPIPERS Jul 22, and 6 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. Other birds noted at ?Brig? this week were TRICOLORED HERON, 4 LITTLE BLUE HERONS, 17 GULL-BILLED TERNS, 3 CASPIAN TERNS, and 4 BLUE GROSBEAKS.
An adult BROWN PELICAN was noted at Sandy Hook Jul 22. A ROSEATE TERN was with a few hundred COMMON TERNS between lots C & D Jul 23 along with a very early MERLIN.
