Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 7/7/1999
This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Wed July 7 with reports of Review List WHITE-FACED IBIS, summering ducks and local reports of interest.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS, discovered July 3 in the West Pool at Brig, was seen there again July 4, in the same area in the NW corner of the West Pool, again at about 9 a.m. As of June 30, there were still one OLDSQUAW and one BUFFLEHEAD in the Toms River (Exit 81 Garden State Pkwy).

At Brightview Farm in Chesterfield, Rte. 545 just north of intersection with Rte. 537, BOBOLINK, GRASSHOPPER and SAVANNAH SPARROWS are present in numbers.

In the Hackensack Meadowlands on July 3 at Snake Hill, CLAPPER RAIL and two SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were seen; at the Hackensack Meadows Environmental Center July 3, LEAST BITTERN, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON, BLACK SKIMMER, 25 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and 4 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen; and in Kearny East, off the Belleville Pike, Least Tern was present.

At Liberty State Park in Jersey City July 3 to 5, in the marshy area next to the Visitor Center, a VIRGINIA RAIL with 2 chicks, an immature COMMON MOORHEN and A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON with immatures were found, and also in the park during that period were BLACK SKIMMER, COMMON LOON, LEAST SANDPIPER, COMMON TERN and N. HARRIER.

A BOB-WHITE was found on Hacklebarney Rd. in Chester Twp. June 30, one of very few reports in North Jersey. A pair of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES are coming to the feeders at the Weis Ecology Center on Snake Den Road in Ringwood.
