This is the voice of NJ Audubon for Sunday, Aug. 14, 1994 at 5 PM with reports of BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, WESTERN SANDPIPER, BALD EAGLE, ROYAL TERN, and other reports of interest. The next tape change will be August 25. An announcement: On September 10, a deep-water pelagic will run out of Montauk, Long Island on the Viking Star, cost $85 per person, call John for information at (914) 234-0306. On July 27 Champagne Island in Hereford Inlet had 2 BLACK TERNS and 40 ROYAL TERNS. At Brigantine on July 30, 200 STILT SANDPIPERS were reported and one WILSON'S PHALAROPE. On Aug. 3, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, SPOTTED SANDPIPERS and BLUE-WINGED TEAL were at Brigantine. At DeKorte State Park (Hackensack Meadowlands Env. Center) Aug. 6, an imm. BALD EAGLE and several thousand SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were present as well as two [unspecified?] NIGHT-HERONS. Also Aug. 6, on Raccoon Ridge, one BROAD-WINGED HAWK, one AM. KESTREL, one imm. BALD EAGLE, and 77 Monarch Butterflies were counted. On Aug. 7 at Hopewell there were CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO; that day at Whitesbog, ten GULL-BILLED TERNS, 2 GLOSSY IBIS, COOPER'S HAWK, and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO. At Palmyra Aug. 7, there were CASPIAN TERN, FORSTER'S TERN, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, and AM. REDSTARTS. Also Aug. 7, BONAPARTE'S GULLS were seen at Assunpink Wildlife Area. On Aug. 14 at Brigantine, 3 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, WESTERN SANDPIPER, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, STILT SANDPIPERS, and thousands of SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were reported, as well as six CASPIAN TERNS and 2 ROYAL TERNS.
