Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 9/13/2001
This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Thurs Sept 13 with reports of Review List PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER, CURLEW SANDPIPER, and other reports of SANDWICH TERN, MARBLED GODWIT, PHALAROPES, BUFF-BREASTED and BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, AVOCETS, BROWN PELICAN, LARK SPARROWS, RED CROSSBILL, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and seasonal reports.

The PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER on Olivet Road off Rte 77 in Salem County was still there Sept 10; also there, 50 AM. GOLDEN PLOVER, and BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS and BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS. [Pacific was still present Sept. 12 -Transcriber]

Reports from Brig the weekend of Sept 8 included CURLEW SANDPIPER (N. Dike, East Pool), SANDWICH TERN, WILSON'S PHALAROPES and RED-NECKED PHALAROPES (N. Dike, West Pool), 3 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS on the dogleg putting green, MARBLED GODWIT seen from the N. Dike, West Pool and later from the South Dike Tower, 4 CATTLE EGRET, MERLIN and YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON.

Sandy Hook Sept 6 had a LARK SPARROW at the South Pond platform (same spot as last year), and another was at the end of the fence behind the Coast Guard houses Sept 9. Five WHITE-RUMPS and two AM. GOLDEN PLOVER were at the salt ponds on the tip Sept 9, and the same day, an early ORANGE-CROWN was in the bushes on the way out to the ponds.

BROWN PELICAN and MARBLED GODWIT were in the Sedge island area of Island Beach this week.

An imm. RED CROSSBILL was present this week three days on private property in Maywood, Bergen County. RAVENS were found on Green Pond Road one mile south of Rte 23 on dead snags at the opening in front of the cliff. Nest location?
