This is the Voice of NJ Audubon for Wed Sep 16 with reports
of BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, CONNECTICUT WARBLERS,
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, DICKCISSELS,
PHILADELPHIA VIREOS, some hawk totals, seasonal reports and local
reports of interest.
Brig on Sep 12 had 20 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, four BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 24 CASPIAN TERNS, 100+ WESTERN SANDPIPERS, SOME
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 3 BALD EAGLES and an early AMERICAN
Palmyra Sep 12 & 13 had 22 WARBLERS per day, including three
CONNECTICUTS and a CERULEAN, four LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, and a LONG-
BILLED DOWITCHER. Sep 15 there was a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER there.
Sandy Hook Sep 9 had DICKCISSEL and CASPIAN TERN, OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW Sep 11, two YELLOW-BELLIED
FLYCATCHER and a DICKCISSEL Sep 12, and numbers of RED-EYED VIREO
and NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. The best warbler flight seems to have
occurred Thursday Sep 10; and Sep 13, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO and
DICKCISSEL were found.
The Lincoln Park Gravel Pits Sep 13 had GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS,
PHILADELPHIA VIREO, and BREWSTER'S WARBLER. Great Swamp had a
CONNECTICUT WARBLER Sep 9 at the long blind boardwalk.
Hawk reports included 11 BALD EAGLES and 405 BROADWINGS at Scott's
Mt. Sep 10. Wildcat Ridge in Rockaway has had 38 BALD EAGLES and
4,296 BROADWINGS to date; and PHILADELPHIA VIREO and CERULEAN
WARBLER there Sep 9. Stateline Lookout at Alpine has 854 BROADWINGS
to date. Chimney Rock to date has had 2,509 BROADWINGS and 24
