Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 9/25/1990
This is the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for Tuesday, September 25, 1990, at 4:00 PM, with reports of CURLEW SANDPIPER, HUDSONIAN GODWIT, GOLDEN PLOVER, BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, WESTERN KINGBIRD, and local and seasonal reports of interest. At Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge on Sept. 23, a CURLEW SANDPIPER in winter plumage was on the east dike; and elsewhere in the pools were BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, GOLDEN PLOVER, WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, and other usual shorebirds. Sept. 24 at Brig there was a HUDSONIAN GODWIT on the dogleg of the north dike, also at the refuge GREAT CORMORANT and CASPIAN TERN in numbers. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was at Cold Spring Campground in Cape May on Sept. 22. A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was in Roxbury, Morris County, Sept. 23; not seen thereafter. Good Hawk flights took place in Cape May Sept. 24 and over Scherman-Hoffman Sanctuary Sept. 25, with numbers of BROADWINGS. A MERLIN was at Righter Rd., Roxbury Park, Sept. 23.
