Voice of New Jersey Audubon - 9/30/1992
This is the Voice of New Jersey Audubon for Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1992, at 2:00 pm, with reports of AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, WESTERN TANAGER, GOLDEN EAGLES & BALD EAGLES, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, local reports, and an announcement of a pelagic trip Oct. 23.

An AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was reported in flight Sept. 27 in Delanco, Burlington Co., on the Delaware River; not reported since.

A WESTERN TANAGER was reported Sept. 27 at Sandy Hook near the group campground at parking area L; not found Sept. 28.

An imm. GOLDEN EAGLE was over Montgomery Township, Somerset Co., Sept. 29 at 4 PM. A BALD EAGLE was seen in Sparta Sept. 30 on Glenn Rd. BALD EAGLE totals to Sept. 25 for three hawk lookouts are: Cape May 32, Montclair 15, and Boonton 26.

Sandy Hook this week had COMMON LOON and BLACK SCOTER flights, as well as MYRTLES, PALM WARBLERS, WHITE-THROATS, JUNCOS, TOWHEES, SAPSUCKERS, KINGLETS, and generally October stuff.

Palmyra Sept. 24 had OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and CONNECTICUT WARBLER. Twelve COMMON LOONS were on Merrill Creek Reservoir Sept. 28.

A Pelagic trip will go out on Oct. 23, Friday, from Belmar Marina; 7 AM to 4 PM; on a 70 foot boat; to about 40 miles; price, $50. Mail the check to Somerset County Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Rd., Basking Ridge NJ 07920. For information call: (908) 766 2489.
